"Don't know much about history"

Hilarious -- and illuminating -- story about U.S. Representative Yvette Clark, Democrat from Brooklyn, in this morning's NY Post.

Addendum, next day: A friend just looked her up on Wiki and pointed out that Clark received a scholarship to Oberlin College in Ohio, and that she is the former chair of the United States Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, Science, and Technology.

She is also a recipient of the "Prestigious APPAH/Sloan Fellowship in Public Policy and Policy Analysis."

Can someone translate that for me?

I suspect my response should be, watch your language! But since I don't get the acronym, I can't say that yet.

Guy Davis just translated for me:

"You have got to be freaking kidding me."

(Polite version.)

She was involved with homeland security and was commended for public policy and analysis? That's really mind-boggling, to think that someone like her would be in one of these serious sounding positions. Perhaps most of these positions are just fake anyway, just a handout for parasites to feed their faces and make money. One catches a glimpse of the stupidity, incompetence and venality of the leadership class here and there just by accident. This person is affirmative action all the way. What's next, Marion Barry to head NASA?

Pete --
That was exactly my thought as well. She wasn't chair of Homeland Security overall, just a branch of it which sounds important but maybe doesn't have any real power. You have to assume that the people around her with Homeland Security responsibilities know exactly what her capabilities are and gave her this face-saving position so that she could sound important. As for Oberlin, well, they have quotes to fulfill.
